Neighborhood MicroCredit Program: In our efforts to support and encourage our neighbors in their efforts to provide for their families, Haitian Ministries grants small loans to market women and skilled laborers that need capital to buy tools or merchandise to run profitable small businesses. In Haiti, one finds many skilled workers such as plumbers, carpenters, electricians and welders that cannot find work because they lack the necessary tools. Our loans help people purchase the materials and tools they need to get started and begin making money. Similarly, market women lack the capital to purchase goods in the quantity necessary to make a decent living. Oftentimes a $100 investment can help a market woman become self-sufficient and enable her to pay for school and food for her children. Our loans are repaid over a six-month period with an interest rate of 2.5% monthly. As loans are repaid and donations are made to the program, more loans will be made available to those in need.
